The lure of exploring endless possibilities and the challenge of solving puzzles is what drew Bonnie Buss to the field of chemistry. That combination is something she hopes will also inspire and excite her students, both in the classroom and the lab, as she steps into her new role as assistant professor in ÍøÆسԹÏ’s Chemistry and Biochemistry department this fall.

During the annual State of the University Address on Sept. 14, 2022, ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï President Andy Feinstein, along with several other university leaders, reflected on the accomplishments achieved during the first two-year phase of ÍøÆسԹÏ’s strategic plan Rowing, Not Drifting 2030, while also looking forward to the next chapter.

As the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï continues progress toward becoming a Hispanic Serving Institution, it’s taking a moment to celebrate a key enrollment milestone. Fall reports indicate 25.5% of ÍøÆسԹÏ's undergraduate students identify as Hispanic or Latinx; just over the 25% threshold required to apply for the federal HSI designation.

Vivian Guetler’s research has taken her to some dark places. Specifically, the dark web, where she has spent considerable time analyzing communications on several forums commonly used by terrorist groups.

This year, the ÍøÆسԹÏ’s César Chávez Cultural Center (CCCC) is hosting several different activities to celebrate Latinx Heritage Month and to reflect together what it means to proudly carry this heritage.

After advocacy from ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï students, Chris Bowers, who previously worked in Facilities Management at ÍøÆسԹÏ, was hired as the newly created energy and sustainability manager.

ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï School of Teacher Education Professor Suzette Youngs, Ph.D., has been selected as the recipient of the 2022 Sears Helgoth Distinguished Teaching Award.

Next week, it may feel a little like déjà vu as Striesand Sampaga '02,'04 returns to campus to help move her daughter, Shae Lefcourt, into her residence hall at ÍøÆسԹÏ. Students will be moving in on Aug. 17, with classes beginning on Aug. 22.

Thanks to the ongoing generous support and engagement of alumni, friends, faculty and staff, the ÍøÆØ³Ô¹Ï has posted a record fundraising year for fiscal year 2022 (FY22), surpassing the $20 million mark for the first time in ÍøÆسԹÏ’s history.
